Raymond collects his Lifetime Achievement Award
Raymond Adds Regional Honour to Local Award

The Club extends it's congratulations to Raymond Townsend on winning the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Regional "Lancashire Sports Awards".

The ceremony was held in Blackpool & is a major achievement for Raymond after a lifetime's dedication to sport & in particular to Pendle Forest.

One of the other contenders in Raymond's category was Olympic skater, British Olympic coach & "Dancing on Ice" judge Karen Barber, so that speaks volumes to the esteem that Raymond's profile held amongst the judging panel, which included footballing legend Jimmy Armfield.

Raymond has been involved in Pendle Forest Sports Club for nearly all his sporting life. He started his sporting career in 1948 when he played his first football match, in 1955 he became a senior player with Pendle Forest where he played for the first, second and third teams until his retirement from playing in 1982. He also played competitive cricket for Pendle Forest from 1952 until 1996. He became the treasurer of the cricket section in 1963 before taking over as cricket secretary in 1964, a post he held until 1990. Ray established the junior section at Pendle Forest in 1972 and ran many junior teams over the years. Until 1967 football and cricket were separate entities when they joined to form one committee, Ray has served on that committee since its inception as Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer and is currently the Club President.

Raymond was part of the Pendle Forest League Champions (Ribble Valley) Cup Runners Up team in 1965 - click here to see the entire squad.
